From the recording Thrill of the Fall
“Faith That Leaps” is inspired by a young 2nd century slave girl named Blandina, who was tortured and put to death for refusing to compromise her beliefs. Even though she was seen as too weak to amount to anything, she showed a resiliency of faith that astounded even her persecutors. Instead of surrendering to the pain, she surrender to the grace she believed and showed was able to carry to death and beyond without losing hope.
Lyrics
Head down with a push and a shove
Knocked back from around and above
Friends turn, brothers lose their sight
Hard men threaten left and right
But the grace that brought me
Is a grace that keeps
And the faith within me
Is a faith that leaps
Lights die and hope follows
Casualties lie on the side of the road
I get thrown down but I’m revived again
With the thought that You wait at the end
The grace that brought me
Is a grace that keeps
And the faith within me
Is a faith that leaps
The grace that brought me
Is a grace that keeps
And the faith within me
Is a faith that leaps
The grace that brought me
Is a grace that keeps
And the faith within me
Is a faith that leaps
